Advocates of the Tasty, Healthy and Local

Eating well: we're all in it together!

Eating well: we're all in it together!

Consumers are paying more attention than ever to what they eat, to protecting the environment, and to compliance with production conditions. The world is changing, and Auchan Retail is coming up with answers and solutions to these new expectations.

Providing quality food at the fairest price so that everyone can live better is one of the pillars of our Vision 2032: “Eating well and living better while preserving the planet”.

Changing everyone’s behaviour, one step at a time, means understanding how to approach each individual. We have taken steps to mobilise our entire ecosystem – producers and manufacturers; nutritionists and top chefs; our in-store butchers, fishmongers and bakers, not to mention our partner associations – as part of a major shift towards good, healthy and local products. Our goal is to restore meaning to our profession as a retailer: to monitor the nutritional quality and taste of the products selected and advise our customers in their food purchases. However, Living Better also affects our producers and our planet. Good, healthy, local food must also ensure that the food sovereignty of the countries in which we are based is preserved, that farms are sustained and that attention is paid to preserving biodiversity and regenerating the soil, which is the key to sustainable food.

The “Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good” responsible agricultural sourcing channels

The “Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good” responsible agricultural sourcing channels

The Auchan Retail teams in each of our countries are proud to forge long-term, trusted partnerships with farmers, producers, fishermen, oyster farmers and market gardeners. This allows us to offer customers original products under the in-store label “Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good”, and to guarantee their quality, origin and taste. For farmers, this means the assurance that their work and expertise are respected based on the four pillars common to all “Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good” sourcing channels throughout the world.

Our teams are in constant interaction with our “Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good” partners. The specifications are co-constructed, and can be adjusted to meet producers’ needs. These sourcing channels enable sharing in the truest sense of the word. Our employees go out into the field, in search of the products that will become flagships in our stalls. These training sessions and this product knowledge leave employees better placed to explain the benefits for consumers, producers and the planet.

A responsible sourcing channel rests on 4 pillars

/

Taste and enjoyment

For all our regions and countries, we give priority to the quality of the products, their unique tastes, and our partners’ know-how. Consumers have the opportunity to discover or rediscover traditional dishes, or revisit them to let local products shine.

/

Working closely with our farmers

The responsible partnerships that come about under the “Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good” banner are intended for the long term. This gives visibility to producers, improves job stability, and ensures a sustainable future for the business. We commit to sharing value and ensuring fair remuneration for our partners (commitment on volumes, help setting up, transitioning to organic, etc.). The specifications are co-constructed, and the relationships are sustainable and based on trust.

/

Respectful of the environment

“Auchan: Let's Cultivate the Good” sourcing channels promote more environment-friendly production methods, including socially responsible agriculture, careful water management and attention to animal welfare. They also give rise to investments aimed at reducing energy consumption or encouraging the use of renewable energies, as well as ways to rethink waste management or redevelop areas of biodiversity. In the future, good food will need to be sustainable, with a limited impact on the climate.

To make our customers want to consume them more often, we are improving our sustainable shopping experience, in order to highlight, in our stores or online, fresh seasonal products that do the body good. We make our employees ambassadors of good eating: guided by scientific experts, we showcase products that have a better impact on health. We send chefs to our aisles, offer an abundance of tasting sessions counters and in-store eatery areas... workshops led by our artisanal bakers, fishmongers and butchers... all to make cooking and flavours a central feature of our stores, and give everyone the chance to rediscover the joys of eating well.
