Auchan Retail wishes to involve its employees in the future of the company and its results. We have long instituted a profit-sharing policy that enables employees to share in the company’s success and its undertakings. Incentive, profit-sharing and employee shareholding schemes attest to our broader policy of sharing our knowledge, power and assets. 

 

A full-fledged management system, asset sharing aligns with Auchan Retail’s historical values and beliefs. Offering employees the chance to become shareholders is the most concrete way to involve them in the company’s future and performance. A shareholding committee made up of shareholder representatives has been established in each Auchan Retail country. There is also a Shareholder Community, the purpose of which is to train employees, share the company’s results and outlook, and prepare share price announcements. Thanks to all of these structures, tens of thousands of employees in countries around the world are shareholders in Auchan Retail, with a vested interest in its development and success.

Solidarity initiatives have been set in motion, in particular through Fondation Auchan. This foundation works with local populations on the ground, and employees are encouraged to participate.

Auchan Retail is firmly set on maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency and compliance in all its operations and at all levels of the organisation. Our anti-corruption programme is based on the following principles:

  • Training and awareness raising: Auchan Retail invests in training and awareness raising for its employees, to inform them of the risks connected with corruption, the anti-corruption laws in effect, and the company’s internal policies on the subject. 
  • Responsible partnerships: Auchan Retail maintains commercial ties only with those partners and suppliers that share its ethics and compliance values, and ensures that third parties abide by the same high standards. For this purpose, the company carries out assessments of all third-parties before entering business relationships with them, either on its own or via specialised service providers. 
  • Rigorous internal controls: Auchan Retail deploys robust internal inspections to ensure the transparency and traceability of its business transactions.
  • Whistle-blowing mechanisms: In all countries, the company’s internal and external stakeholders have access to a whistle-blowing mechanism so that they can report any behaviour that is illegal or in violation of the Code of Ethics. 


The progress of this programme is regularly shared within Auchan Retail bodies such as the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors.

Auchan Retail also takes steps to maintain a culture of trust and integrity within the company.

Auchan Retail has set up a whistle-blowing mechanism so that its employees, suppliers and all other involved parties can make anonymous reports about any conduct or behaviour that does not comply with the company’s Ethics Charter: “Speak Up”. Any instance of corruption, fraud, harassment, discrimination or any other practice that contravenes the laws or commitments made by Auchan Retail can be reported confidentially via this channel.

Auchan Retail’s duty of care is considered a driving force in its commitment to operating responsibly and sustainably across its entire value chain. The company is committed to working in partnership with its suppliers, employees and all stakeholders to create an exemplary supply chain that respects human rights, the environment, health and safety, and society at large, while making a positive contribution to local communities’ well-being. 

 Auchan Retail has formalised these duty of care commitments in its Vigilance Plan. This document is the result of a proactive approach to assessing risks and identifying opportunities for improvement. It sets out the concrete steps which the company is taking to guarantee a responsible supply chain.
